Striving for Excellence or Completeness: Finding True Success
Fri, November 7, 2025 I by Ryan
Most people spend their entire lives chasing outward success—trying to outdo others, to perfect every single move, and to win every race. But I’ve learned that striving for excellence in life, while admirable, isn’t the ultimate goal.
What I truly strive for is completeness.
The Difference Between Performance and Inner Wholeness
Excellence is fundamentally about performance. It’s measured by outward results, by the thunderous applause, and by what others can clearly see. It’s completely external—it proudly says, “Look at what I’ve done.”
Completeness, though, gently comes from deep within. It’s not about how flawless you appear to the world, but how whole you feel in the quiet moments. It beautifully says, “Look at who I’ve become.”
You can be outstandingly excellent and still be completely broken inside. You can achieve massive success, immense wealth, or global recognition, and still feel like something vital is missing. Completeness doesn’t demand impossible perfection—it simply asks for balance. It’s about seamlessly aligning your ultimate purpose with your inner peace, your daily effort with your faith, and your progress with your gratitude.
Chasing Harmony Over Outward Validation
When I seek completeness, I’m not chasing external validation; I’m chasing deep harmony. I want to reach a sacred place where my mind, heart, and soul are working together in unison. Where I’m not defined by what I produce, but by:
Completeness constantly reminds me that I’m not supposed to have everything figured out right now—I’m supposed to gracefully grow into what I’m divinely meant to be. It teaches me to accept my flaws, embrace my hard lessons, and keep walking toward a much better version of myself without ever competing with anyone else.
Striving for excellence in life may win you glittering trophies, but completeness wins you lasting peace—and peace is the absolute highest form of success.
